Training with MARK’S® Studio Fitness


For over a decade, numerous U.S. studies have brought to public awareness the health value of strength training for seniors. In fact, research has shown that strength training is effective for improving glucose metabolism, increasing bone mineral density, and speeding up gastrointestinal efficacy. 


These studies have concluded that strength exercise adds lean tissue, increases resting metabolism, and reduces arthritic discomfort and strength training increases low back strength and alleviates low back pain. Research also reveals that for many golfers, strength training improves swing performance by increasing speed and driving power and strongly suggests that strength exercise may also enhance other physical activities such as tennis and cycling. In addition, the most prominent concerns for seniors remain bodyweight, body composition and blood pressure. Senior men and women are concerned about gaining weight, becoming soft (use it or lose it) and experiencing high blood pressure. 


Unfortunately, dieting does not produce permanent weight loss and walking does not firm and tone all muscles of the body. many seniors tell us they are afraid to try strength training because they have heard that it will increase their blood pressure and cause stress and strain on their backs, shoulders, and joints.


We at MARK’S® Studio believe that strength exercise is effective for decreasing bodyweight, increasing lean weight, and reducing resting blood pressure. In addition, strength training results in a higher resting metabolic rate and greater daily energy utilization.

MARK’S® Studio fitness trainers are mobile. We come to you! Many of the gated communities here in south Florida have wonderful community and training facilities available to you. Have your clubhouse/entertainment representative give us call so we can work out the details. All we need is a comfortable room and if you would like to gather some friends for a fun and invigorating fitness session, we will come and train you! You do not have to leave the comfort and security of your community. What is Pilates...?


Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by German-born Joseph Pilates. As of 2005, there were 11 million people practicing the discipline regularly and 14,000 instructors in the United States.


Pilates is the art of controlled movements, which should look and feel like a workout (not a therapy) when properly manifested. If practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the whole human body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced levels including the practitioner's specific goals and/or limitations.

Ms. Cano's Pilates & Stretching for Seniors is a comprehensive "how to" class designed to educate and help you achieve your health and fitness goals with Pilates. 

We start you off with basic Pilates postures and exercises, simplified to conform to your current body condition. Our goal is to help you achieve better health by slowly improving your strength and agility with basic stretching (chair and mat positions) and simplified seated Pilates postures. We give you the best positions so you may continue every day at home in the evening or mornings or anytime you are not with us in class. These trusted methods will improve your health and general fitness including your overall body strength, posture, balance, and spinal alignment.

Fitness In The Park
Each month, MARK’S® Drum & Fitness Studio invites you to join us for exercise, dance and drumming in the park! 
Sarasota Park Information To Be Announced. 

Ms. Cano will be teaching stretching and general fitness training including breathing exercises, mat training and dance! Join the MARK’S® Studio drummers as we move you with the Drum-set, afro-Cuban & afro-Brazilian drums...!!!

Fitness Instructor, Eliana Cano

Eliana Cano is a dedicated, enthusiastic, and passionate fitness and dance instructor with over 10 years’ experience in teaching classes throughout south Florida. Eliana has a friendly approach to establishing rapport and building trust with students of all ages and backgrounds. "My goal is to inspire and encourage creativity and individualism through fitness and dance."


Eliana aims to promote multi-cultural awareness by incorporating ‘music from around the globe’ into modern-day fitness and dance class performance. Her innovative, step-by-step method is a safe and enjoyable learning experience for students of all ages.


Ms. Cano specializes in general fitness for Seniors and Seniors' Pilates classes.


Ms. Cano was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and is a certified AFAA fitness instructor including PilatesSenior Fitness Training and CPR/AED accredited by the American Heart Association.
