MDR World Class Drums & Percussion Studio® – An Integrated Approach to Music and Personal Development
Empowering Growth Through Music, Martial Arts, and Wellness
The MDR World Class Drums & Percussion Studio® was established by drummer and educator Mark De Rose. Rooted in traditions from both music and Japanese martial arts, our educational philosophy emphasizes the harmony of mind, body, and spirit as the foundation for personal development and growth. We believe that with the will to learn, anyone can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to evolve and transform. Our doors are open to all, from ages 7 to 107, and we offer private, semi-private, and group lessons in drums, and percussion.
Mark De Rose is an accomplished drummer and percussionist whose international career includes recording and performing with acclaimed Asian artists such as Hino Terumasa, Chage & Aska, Koyanagi Yuki, Togi Hideki, and Tanaka Ken. His recording credits span major labels such as Sony Japan, RCA Victor, Pony Canyon, Blue Note Records, Toshiba EMI, and Denon, as well as independent labels. Mark’s artistry is also featured in television and film soundtracks, as well as commercial recordings. He has composed, arranged, and directed music for NHK Television, educational broadcasts, government-sponsored training videos, and animated soundtracks. In the United States, Mark has performed with notable artists such as Mary Wilson, The Flamingos, Bobby Wilson, Kenny James, Brent Lewis, and John Serry, further showcasing his versatility and earning international acclaim.
With over forty years of teaching experience, Mark has held a variety of instructional positions, including Drum and Latin-Percussion Instructor at the Yamaha Popular Music School in Tokyo, Latin Percussion Ensemble Instructor at the Kyoto Conservatory of Music, and Drum and Latin-Percussion Instructor at the Antonio Adolfo School of Brazilian Music in Hollywood, Florida. He is currently an adjunct instructor for Sarasota County Schools, providing lessons in drums, percussion, and piano throughout the southeast and central west regions of Florida.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition and Arranging from Berklee College of Music in Boston, as well as studies in classical percussion performance and Music Education at the Boston Conservatory of Music. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Mark is a certified Black Belt with the InYou Ryu Honbu Karate Dojo in Kyoto, Japan.

Drums & Percussion with Mark
The studio is being taught by professional drummer and percussionist Mark De Rose, who has been teaching drums and percussion for over 40 years. He has performed, traveled, and lived around the globe and brings his rich, eclectic experiences to his teaching. Mark teaches with an extensive collection of drums and percussion instruments and his expertise extends from American to world percussion spanning Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
